Hi all,
We’re about six days away from our fieldtrip to Cal Poly for the Reduced Shakespeare Company performance. Details about transportation will be covered at this Thursday’s meeting. For those who are participating in the candy sale, please turn in all money to Bea, our treasurer, and she will provide you with your ticket. Tony has purchased twelve tickets for the club, but we welcome you to bring friends and other bibliophiles and theater enthusiasts along for the adventure. Student-priced tickets will be available at the box office on the night of the event.
In other news, last week’s book swap and review session was an immense success! It was such a pleasure to hear about Tennessee Williams’ finesse in constructing and critiquing family structure, John Steinbeck’s genius in describing the sublimity of the American landscape, and of the crude yet cutting humor of Charles Bukowski’s poetry. If you didn’t get the chance to bring a book to share last Thursday, you’re in luck! We’ll be keeping the book swap as a feature of our weekly meetings.
Oh! And given the time constraints of the meeting, if a scant few minutes of discussion does not sate your literary thirst, feel free to strike up a conversation with any members after the close of meeting. It would be lovely to hear the P-building awash in rousing discourse; perhaps we can challenge the idea that we are the “drive-by review” generation.
See you all this Thursday as we hammer out the logistics of the fieldtrip and decide on a date for November’s bonfire!
